All Barriers Should Be Removed From Roads, Streets, Massoud

Kabul (BNA) Ahmad Zia Massoud, Presidential Senior Advisor on Reforms and Good Governance in a session of national committee of transport ordered that all concreted walls and unnecessary barriers belonging to government and non-government organizations should be removed from roads and streets.
The decision was adopted in the session based on addressing problems and traffic jams in Kabul city.
In the session, a plan for management of city transport was delivered and the solution of problems was suggested in this regard and approved by the committee.
In the plan, lack of transportation plan, lack of laws and research programs, not making use of IT in transportation-related issues, lack of cooperation between relevant organs, administrative challenges and illegal action of a number of government officials were considered as key challenges towards management of city transportation.
Technical advisor to ministry of transport Abdullah Habibzai showed the session short-term, midterm and long-term solutions for transportation problems, which was approved by members of the committee.
Meanwhile, deputy minister of policy for transport considered causes of the problems as blocking of roads and streets and law-violation of a number of government officials, saying that for solution of the problems and making a system, it was needed that a plan should be approved by cabinet of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on greenery of the city.
The presidential advisor on reforms and good governance while evaluating the plan as valuable for addressing transportation problems in Kabul city asserted issues should be prioritized so that transportation problems were addressed in Kabul city.
