MoHE Mainly Responsible For Afghanistan’s Development: VP Danesh

Kabul (BNA) The second vice president Mohammad Sarwar Danesh introduced the new acting minister for the ministry of higher education, Abdul Latif Roshan here during a ceremony attended by a number of government officials, leading body of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), university lecturers, MPs and cabinet members. Praising the activities and achievements of the former minister of higher education, Mohammad Sarwar Danesh wished the new minister success in implementation of the commitments for qualitative and quantitative developments within the ministry.
Pointing to financial and professional independence of the higher education institutions, VP Danesh said academic environments like the judicial one should be clean and far from any interferences. He said ministry of higher education had the main responsibilities of the country’s development. The second vice president called for fundamental reform and implementation of the development plan in ministry of higher education, adding the government higher education institutions should not only see the private sectors as their successful competitors but also as their main partners. However he also pointed to some shortcomings in public and private higher education institutions.
VP Danesh also called for establishment of a deputy ministry to better manage and oversee the activities of the private higher education institutions. Meanwhile the newly appointed acting minister of higher education insisted on implementation of the development plan and basic reforms, adding would prioritize student-based and researches methods to help improve the higher education situation in the country.
