Friday, February 13, 2015
Kabul (BNA) Full of ancient sites and historical monuments, western province of Ghor needs the organs concerned attention for reconstruction of their collapsed tombs and minarets, an official said the other day.
Head of Ghor provincial information and culture Fakhruddin Aryapoor in a telephone conversation expressed concern over the full collapse of the monuments unless the related organs were ready to repair.
He said he had repeatedly referred to the ministry of information and culture for an outlay could be used in reconstruction of the monuments, but nothing had been still done in this respect by the central office. “Jam Minaret is at the merge of collapse,” he said adding 187 historical monuments are registered with his office, but due to lack of transportation and finance essentials, they failed to survey many others reaching to hundreds in the ancient city.
Aryapoor went on as saying that some remaining historical monuments of Qala-e-Zahak with over one hundred centuries laid 2km east of the Firozkoh Township and Jam Minaret with 70km west of Firozkoh, with a background of over 1,800 years and many others in Qala-e-Tolak and Qala-e-Mandish and in Saghar district with over 1000 years are at the merge of collapse, due to failure of the organs concerned to set aside a proper budget for reconstruction.
“We could return three ancient objects from the historical heritage traffickers in cooperation with police and prevent illegal excavations in some parts of Daulatyar district,” said the chief adding despite having no main museum for the recovered historical objects, we do keep some 20 historical legacies in a room of the provincial information and culture building.
He said the ministry of information and culture has not still provided enough budget to help them reconstruct the historical monuments in the province. “What we have so far done in this field is registering 187 historical monuments, 57 natural sites and 15 historical sites”.
Head of the provincial information and culture department also complained about lack of proper budget from the central office to be spent in reconstruction of the historical monuments.
He asked the government and other related organs to make efforts for repairing the ancient monument and helping the provincial office for launching research and survey of the remaining hidden ones.
Afghanistan is still among those countries, with the organs concerned failures to pay precise attention on the ancient provinces, like Ghor, as the provincial official said fear from the Taliban are also of the key reason deferred their efforts for survey and protection as well as prevent illegal extraction.
