MoIC Held Book Fair in Support to Rises Reading Culture

KABUL (BNA) Acting Information and Culture Minister Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa, inaugurated a book fair held at Kabul University on the occasion of Book Reading Week.

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister Khairkhwa, a number of government officials, professors, and students of Kabul University, according to Bakhtar News Agency reporter, the book fair exhibition was held in cooperation with Kabul University to promote the culture of reading in the country.

Minister Khairkhaw spoking on the occasion and called the role of educated youth in the development and progress of the country and the welfare of the people important and encouraged the youth to study and read books.

Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Zabihullah Mujahid, said: “the only way out of the problems, Progress is the education and knowledge of science.

He said the Ministry of Information and Culture has strained to display pure books at the fair, with the aim of serving science and knowledge, as well as motivating young people to be fortified to read and study.

Above 35 publishers, including Bayhaqi Books Publishing and the Academy of Sciences, will display 1,500 books, which include more than one hundred thousand capacities and include various sections.  Said Sayed Ahmad Saeedi, President of the Publishers Union of Afghanistan.

He said the exhibition is open to the public at Kabul University until recently this week.

Ruhollah Ashna, a student of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Kabul University, in an interview with BNA, said that the launch of this exhibition is a good step in supporting the culture of reading in the country.

He added that there is a discount on book prices at the fair and that holding such fairs encourages young people, specifically university students, to turn to read books.
