Bamyan 35m Statue To Be Rehabilitated

Kabul (BNA) The 11th meeting of the experts for preservation of historical monuments and archeological sites of Bamyan province opened with a speech of Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture at the Akhen University of Germany.
Zaryalai Nawabi advisor at the department of public affairs of the ministry told that this meeting is initiated by the UNESCO and continued for two days in which the experts and scholars who last year studied in respect to preservation the remnants of the Buddha statues, the future activities in this respect will be determined.
Nawabi added that the minister of information and culture leading a delegation including deputy minister of public works, advisor of urban development, and deputy minister for cultural affairs and heads of the historical monuments of the ministry participated at the meeting.
He stressed further that the four-point proposal of the minister of information and culture was adopted by the participants of the meeting at the Akhen University meeting.
The proposal covers rehabilitation of the 35m statue by using its remaining parts and pieces scattered as a result of its explosion.
The three other points include building of the Bamyan museum and investigating to the remains of the bigger statue and other historical monuments and sites of Bamyan province so that they are prevented from further damages.
The ministry so far could launch a series of persistent efforts towards preservation and reconstruction of the historical monuments as a result of which the ministry could carry on rehabilitation on a number of historical monuments and some others are under the process of rehabilitation in the country.
The ministry has been assisted in this respect by UNESCO and ISISCO and presently the ministry is striving hard to preserve historical and cultural heritages of the country indicating the identity of this nation.
Meanwhile the ministry within its possibilities has exerted efforts to carry on the needed rehabilitation activities in Ghazni and prepare the city based on its historical background till the year 2013.  As part of this program, the ministry has rehabilitated some of its historical monuments.
