Monitoring Role Slightest Right Given To Provincial Councils, Muhaqiq

Kabul (BNA) Members of Afghanistan provincial councils’ coordination commission met yesterday with chief executive second deputy, Mohammad Muhaqiq.
In the meeting held with participation of chiefs and representatives of the country’s provincial councils, two members of the councils representing the others spoke and said if the provincial council had no oversight right it would really be like a body without soul. They asked Haji Muhaqiq for mediation through a particular mechanism to solve the current problems of the provincial councils.
Members of the councils while pointing out to support of the National Unity Government’s leaders, stressed they would launch huge gatherings if their problems and demands were not addressed. Supporting monitoring role of the provincial councils, chief executive second deputy said, “Monitoring right was the slightest right given to provincial councils”.
Hinting related to authorization of similar councils in other countries of the world, Muhaqiq added the provincial councils were example of a local parliament approving local budget in most countries.
Mohammad Muhaqiq promised that he would support the councils’ demands in the Council of Ministers, Cabinet and Security Council’s sessions.
