MoPH Signs 19 Healthcare Projects

Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) signed 19 healthcare projects with different domestic and foreign implementing institutions in 18 provinces of the country, a statement from the ministry said yesterday. The project worth 6 billion Afghanis which include the third phase of the (SEHAT) project.
Pointing to access of people to healthcare facilities and increasing number of healthcare centers in the remote areas of the country, Minister of Public Health Dr. Ferozuddin Feroz said beside focusing on basic healthcare services and hospitals, his ministry wanted to increase access to healthcare systems from 60 percent to 80 percent through implementation of the said 19 projects in the country. He also said around 200 healthcare centers to be established in remote areas of the country and 170 other healthcare centers to be upgraded.
“Ministry of Public Health is committed to increase the salary of those staffs in remote areas by 40 percent. Two percent of the budget would be allocated for the provinces of Nangarhar and Nimroz as well as one percent of the budget would be allocated to other provinces of the country from the total amount of each contracts to address health related problems of the Afghan returnees,” Dr. Feroz added as quoted in the statement.
The signed contracts included improving the nutritional status of children and mothers, recruitment of one female advisor on nutrition in each healthcare centers, establishment of durable vaccine centers in clinics, establishing of an environment where people could engage in health related debate, decision makings and monitoring of the healthcare services, installation of information boards in healthcare centers and awareness of people on prevention of diseases.
