Increasing Pressure On Taliban Advances Peace Process

Tuesday May 31, 2016

Kabul (BNA) Talks with Taliban as the most important armed opposition of the Afghan government has been discussing for many years and this objective has overshadowed political and managerial orientations of the government both domestic or foreign policy. Each time that the leaders of the NUG have stretched the hand of peace and talks towards Taliban, they have responded with deadly and terrorists attacks. In the last national and international efforts for drawing the Taliban leaders to peace talks since few months, several quadrilateral coordination group meetings were held in Kabul-Islamabad respectively for implementation of Afghanistan peace roadmap. But despite of all extensive endeavors, the Taliban leaders intensified their subursive activities and obliterated all these peaceful plans. Last week we witnessed two important incidents at Taliban leader’s level, the first was targeting of Taliban leader mullah Akhtar Mansoor and the second was introduction of his replacement Haibattulah Akhondzada as the new leader of Taliban. As per these two incidents, once again comments were raised on Afghan peace process.
Some people had believed that with the death of Mullah Mansoor and his replacement with Haibatullah Akhondzada the peace process between the Taliban and the Afghan government would be accelerated but another number of people were against this opinion and believed that the new Taliban leader ship would not be ready to attend the peace talks table. But releasing a video message, the really appointed Taliban leader put an end to all doubts and rejected peace talks with the Afghan government. In the message Haibat Akhondzada the new leader of the Taliban has said that he would continue the path of former Taliban leaders Mullah Omar and Mullah Mansoor. He said, we would continue our war in this country until we achieve our goals. Despite of this, this question is associated in every one mine that how peace will be achieved? The Taliban group considers itself as strong force against the Afghan government and has not shown any slight interest to peace talks and has always been insisting on their demands.
Therefore while the Taliban are following their goals resorting to force and violence and have not believed in political measures and peace talks, the Afghan government should embark on offensive military solution and destroy Taliban war machine in the battlefield. Implementing these steps, the NUG leaders should follow two goals. Frist, defeating Taliban in the battlefields, they should convince Taliban to attend peace talks table unconditionally and second, dismantling their war machine, NUG should halter major parts of insecurities in the country and extend the scope of nationwide peace and stability and exert pressure on Pakistan by the US in war on terror to positively conclude the peace process. With the recent position of the Afghanistan i.e. hostile with foes and friendly with friends, we would witness on resolute approach by NUG leaders with murderers of the country’s citizens.
