Muttaqi Stresses on Strengthening Commercial Ties with Iran

KABUL (BNA): Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi during a meeting with an Iranian delegation emphasized the need for closer commercial relations with the neighbor country.

Acting foreign minister in a meeting with Javad Karimi-Ghodousi, an Iranian parliamentarian heading a seven-member delegation said that Afghanistan is a good market for Iranian products and stressed on more facilities in the trade and transit sector between the two neighbors.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Muttaqi stated that Afghanistan, due to its geographical location, has served as a regional bridge for business activity.

With re-establishment in the country, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in addition to ensuring the security of the whole country and the elimination of ISIS, which is also in the interest of the countries of the region and the world, it reduced the amount of poppy cultivation to zero and began treating thousands of addicts, he said.

In the meeting, members of the Iranian parliament said that both parties should work together and find a solution to prevent trafficking, manage border problems and prevent the illegal movement of people.

They also added that Iran is ready to share its experiences with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in various cases.
