Melon Yield Increased By Twenty-One Percent in Kunduz

Sunday, September 1, 2019
Kunduz (BNA) melon yields increased by 21 percent in Kunduz comparing to last year, BNA reported.
According to the figures, last year twenty-four thousand metric tons of melon produced in Kunduz, while this year, the figure reached to twenty-nine thousand and two hundred metric tons.  According to the agency.
A source from provincial agriculture, irrigation and livestock directorate told the agency, the main reason for the increase of melon yields in Kunduz was the expansion of agricultural areas, training of farmers with modern methods and facilitating them with essential tools.
The lack of suitable markets for melon sales is still a problem for the Kunduz farmers, the source added.
They asked the government to provide the ground for exporting of melon to the national and international markets.
