President Karzai’s Role Worthy In Election Process, UC

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai received the head and members of Country-wide Ulema Council in Presidential Palace the other day.
In the beginning of the meeting, a member of the council readout the resolution of Ulema Council where in it called upon the next president to work for peace, security, unity and national sovereignty of the country on priority basis.
Describing the April 5 elections as a major achievement in the contemporary history of Afghanistan, the Ulema council noting it is the first time in the history of the country that the power is handed over from an elected president to another one.
The Ulema Council had also praised the role of national security forces in providing security during the elections. It also praised the achievements of the country under the leadership of president Karzai over the past 13 years in the fields of health, communications, education, economic, improvement, and freedom of expression, press freedom, development of security forces, holding five Loya Jirgas and strengthening national unity. In his address, the president hinting at holding presidential and provincial councils’ elections said that the propaganda of the western media has been proved baseless as the participation of the people in the 2014 elections was vast and security organs had also demonstrated their ability by providing election security.
President Karzai said, “Afghanistan has taken step in right directions and anyone become the president he will be the president of the whole Afghans and I would hand over in a grandeur ceremony to the new president because the new president victory is the victory of the people of Afghanistan.”
