Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah chaired Council of Ministers meeting here yesterday, a statement from Chief Executive Office said.
At the outset, Dr. Abdullah condemned the terrorist attack on Sikh Community and called it an inhuman and un-forgiveness act. He said Sikhs playing key role in development of Afghanistan and instructed security organs to do more for security of Sikhs and Hindu community in the country.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah has opposed the idea of specifying safe zones to the Taliban and termed the move as providing sanctuaries to terrorists and allowing activities against human rights and drug trafficking.
The CE said the strategy to hand over safe zones to the Taliban was presented but this plan is against the will of the people of Afghanistan.
Dr. Abdullah said Afghanistan could provide a safe zone for people who were interested in peace and stability in the country. He reiterated the offer to hand over safe zone to the Taliban was against the interest of the people.
“Handing over areas to terrorist groups from where they launch terrorist activities or drug trafficking is not the way to resolve things and may not help peace and stability in the country,” he said.
Concluding his inaugural speech, Dr. Abdullah congratulated duties of the newly appointed acting ministers of Information and Culture and Urban Development and Housing.
The meeting continued with reports of the security organs on overall security situation of the country, report of the first deputy to Chief Executive on reformation draft of the prisons in the upcoming four years and report of the ministry of economy on implementation of the strategic plan for capacity buildings of the government organs in first quarter of the solar year 1397.
Meanwhile the meeting continued with Ministry of Finance briefing the session on ministries’ expenditure of ordinary and development budget, Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology’s draft on e-governance and Ministry of Transport’s sectorial policy on transport.
At the end director of the environment protection agency rejected the rumors on spitting poison to Panjshir River, saying their technical team found there were no poison in the river.
