Trenkot (BNA) Uruzgan witnessed heavy fighting by Taliban-affiliated militias and assailants overnight.
The clashes erupted following a Taliban group attack on several military checkpoints in Dehraud and Charchino districts and on the outskirts of the southern provincial capital.
Thirty-six insurgents were killed and dozens more were wounded in the fighting, according to official figures.
A senior Atal Corps official in south of the country told BNA that during the Taliban attacks, the air force was deployed and targeted the attackers.
He confirmed that 36 Taliban members killed and dozens more wounded in the clashes.
The Taliban’s four hideouts with all their combat equipment were destroyed in the air strikes.
