No List of Corrupt Individuals In AGO, Spokesman

Sunday February 8, 2015
Kabul (BNA) A spokesperson to Attorney General Office (AGO) says the office has no list of corrupted individuals.
Speaking to journalists yesterday, Basir Azizi, spokesperson to Attorney General Office said, “In some media, the issue of a list of a number of corrupted attorneys for (AGO) has been released, but preparation of such list by Attorney General Office is baseless and the office is rejecting it”. “Attorney General Office arrested four prosecutors and four employees of other government institutions three weeks ago in connection with corruption and their related cases have been prepared and submitted to the court,” Azizi added. He also asserted that the related cases of seven former ministers had been also prepared and submitted to the court. Azizi said that it is necessary that a special court to be set up for investigation and reviewing of ministers’ cases but he did not give details related to identification of the ministers. The issue of corrupted individuals’ list came after the country’s president asked (AGO) for preparation of corrupted individuals’ list. Nevertheless, AGO spokesman says attorney general office is an independent organ and is struggling against any kind of corruption, adding if prosecutors have been accused of corruption along with documents and witnesses, Attorney General Office will probe it.
