Second Vice President Returns After Officially Visiting India

Kabul (BNA): Second vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili, leading high-ranking government officials traveled to New Delhi, capital city of India and held discussions with the country’s high-ranking officials.
The Vice President was accompanied by Minister of Higher Education and Economy, ANA chief of staff and a number of government officials.
During the first day of his trip to New Delhi, the vice president met Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khorshid. During the second day of his trip to Delhi, the vice president met Indian president, vice president and Prime Minister.
At meeting with the Indian president, the vice president expressed that cooperation between the two countries in various sectors is strategic and important.
The Vice President considered Indian government and its people one the biggest supporters of Afghanistan and appreciated India for its assistance in particular construction of Salma dam, a new building for Afghanistan parliament, accepting thousands of Afghan students and others.
While considering TAPI project as important both politically and economically, the vice president hoped the project would be implemented with cooperation of the regional countries including India.
Pointing out that Afghan security forces have held successfully complete security responsibility, the Vice President added assistance and cooperation of the neighboring countries in particular India are important in equipment and strengthening of Afghan national security forces.
At the meeting, the Indian president called the Afghan vice president’s trip to India as an important point in relations of the two countries.
While pointing out related to the Indian government and private sector’s interests for investment in Afghanistan, the Indian president hoped Afghanistan to be changed in to a cross road for trade and transit in the region.
Mohammad Karim Khalili, Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met Indian Prime Minister Man Muhan Singh in the Prime Minister House.
At the meeting, the vice president while appreciating the country’s two billion dollars assistance to Afghanistan and considered it useful for rehabilitation of Afghanistan.
He also hoped security cooperation of the two countries would be further extended for strengthening of Afghan national security forces.
