Khalili Chairs CM Economic Committee Meeting

Kabul (BNA) Second vice-president Mohammad Karim Khalili chaired a meeting of the CM economic committee which discussed the draft economic policy of Afghanistan prepared by ministry of economy.
According to the in charges of the ministry, considering the provision of the constitution the draft economic policy is necessary for accelerating the sustainable economic growth and this covers growth of economic development on the basis of free market economy which is compatible with the objective realities of the Afghan society.
The draft also envisages sustainable economic development, full employment, economic stability, poverty reduction, social justice, restoration of prices and payment balance.
It is said that in the draft however spheres like agriculture, industries, energy, transport, communications, regional and international cooperation, development of private sector, human resources development and social services, good governance have been anticipated as priority of economic policy of the government of Afghanistan.
The participants of the meeting by appreciating the hard work of the ministry of economy advanced some of their proposals and views on the draft in order to remove its shortcomings.  They proposed that specific standards should be verified in all spheres.
They added that adding the cities development, infrastructures, as economic priority should also become part of the draft economic policy.
It was decided that the draft economic policy considering its importance, once again be reviewed by t this committee and then referred to the cabinet session. 
Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi Minister of commerce and industries informed the meeting about the measures of that ministry in respect affiliation of Afghanistan to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and added that presently a good ground exists for affiliation of Afghanistan at the organization.
He mentioned transit problems, attraction of foreign investments, support to the domestic industries, and expansion of trade are facilities to be obtained as a result of membership to the (WTO).
According to Ahadi official application for membership to the WTO has already been presented by the government of Afghanistan and talks are in the process for obtaining its membership.
The meeting decided that issues pertaining to the affiliation of Afghanistan to the WTO should be taken in the coming economic meeting.
