Eslah Daily’s Editor-in-Chief Passes Away // President Ghani, MoIC Condole Death of Dad Mohammad Onaby

Kabul (BNA) Editor-in-Chief of the state-run Eslah daily newspaper, Dad Mohammad Onaby passed away due to Coronavirus on Sunday morning in Kabul.
Onaby’s family confirmed his death and adding that he passed away in Afghan-Japan hospital on Sunday morning due to COVID-19.
President Ghani in a message condoled his death, and appreciated his works for the country’s press and culture. “Onaby’s death is a great loss to the country.
I wish paradise for the late Onaby and patience for his family and friends,” the president was quoted in a statement released by the Presidential Press office yesterday.
The Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danesh also condoled his death, calling him a great culturist and man of pen and extended his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Meanwhile in another statement, Ministry of Information and Culture leadership condoled death of Eslah newspaper’s editor-in-chief.
“We are deeply saddened to learn that Dad Mohammad Onaby, editor-in-chief of Eslah daily passed away due to an illness he had contracted,” the statement from MoIC said, adding that he was a cultural and literary figure of the country and had excellent knowledge and insight in the fields of culture and literature.
Onaby had served as the directors of Baihaqi Publications and People’s Culture for the Ministry of Information and Culture and joined state-run Eslah daily in 2013.
A number of Journalists Supporting associations also condoled Onaby’s death, and asked government to help contain the spread of the fatal disease in the country, in particular among media staffs.
“Seven Journalists has been died and near a thousand has contracted COVID-19 so far,” NAI, supporting open media in Afghanistan said in a statement, while extending condolences over demise of Onaby to media family of Afghanistan.
