‘Our Commitment Is Clear For Overall Women’s Role In Govt.’ President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in third international symposium for empowerment and role of Afghan women said the voice of Afghan women was audile and their role in various dimensions was clear to the world.
In the symposium held yesterday at presidential palace with participation of the country’s First Lady and a number of international partners and women rights advocates, President Ghani said, “Today, an Afghan woman is representing herself and working beside men in economic and administrative sectors.” “Afghan woman is now working in government as minister, advocate, ambassador, judge and police and currently 240 women are working beside men in judicial organs”, President Ghani said, adding that Afghan woman believed on Islamic values and constitution and was not ready to go back and wanted to go forward beside men. The country’s President asserted that Afghan woman and man believed that their goal was to reach an unbiased society in which extremism-related visions had no place. Addressing to women, President Ghani said, “You should review the government’s developments because it is your visions that needs are calculated and we can achieve good aims”. The country’s President considered the symposium as new way for discussion and seeking a solution for problems of Afghan women, praising the Afghan network for its role in launching the symposium. Regarding the role of private sector as key for supporting economic empowerment of women, President Ghani said private sector should help so that economic and employment facilities would be provided to women. The President asked participants in the symposium to work on programs which implementing standards were existed in government, adding that their commitment was clear for all out maintaining the role of women in government. The country’s President praised all those parents who have sent their boys in particular girls for serving in the country’s defense and security forces. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani added that a number of women have defended women right in critical situation and this process was still not completed, asking that all should participate in maintain the rights of women to reach acceptable results. President Ghani praised holders of the symposium and cooperation and support of donor countries. Afterwards, the country’s First Lady also spoke related to importance of the symposium attended by women from all provinces of the country, saying that the symposium could pave the way for identification of problems, challenges and ways of solution.  In the symposium, US special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan also spoke and praised President Ghani for his efforts in supporting women. Norwegian minister of foreign affairs in the symposium said that presence of women in various government sectors was showing Afghanistan government’s commitment. In the symposium, NATO civil representative on peace and security also spoke and regarded the role of Afghan women as key in education and employment sectors, adding that participation of women should be strengthened in various sectors and NATO was committed for supporting Afghan women. According to another report, the country’s chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah participated in Banquet held by MoFA on the occasion of the third international symposium for empowerment role of Afghan women.
