‘Afghan Peace National, Regional And International Process’, President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan peace is a national, regional and international process, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said in a meeting held in Arg yesterday to introduce the newly appointed head of High Peace Council (HPC), Pir Sayed Ahmad Gilani.
Addressing the ceremony, the president said that the first phase of Jihad has been successfully accomplished and the new phase includes restoration of lasting peace and prosperity begins today. The aim of Afghanistan government is to convince the world that all Afghans want honorable and lasting peace with preserving the achievements in the fields of women rights in accordance with the country’s constitution, the president said, adding our war is not a domestic war, rather it is a war of right against wrong.
President Ghani also assured the High Peace Council to act independently. He also lauded the services of former head of HPC, Burhanuddin Rabbani and wished him paradise. President also appreciated the sacrifices of the Afghan National Security Forces in stabilizing peace and security in the country. Chief Executive, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, head of HPC Pir Sayed Ahmad Gilani, his deputy, Mohammad Karim Khalili, former HPC chairman and serving foreign minister, Salahuddin Rabbani and few more also spoke on the occasion.  According to another report, President Ghani and the leading board of High Peace Council (HPC) including its Chief, Pir Sayed Ahmad Gilani called on former President, Hamid Karzai in his office and exchanged views on peace process and how to restore lasting peace in the country.
