Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan’s revenues will increase to multiple, after the government took over control of all airspace and airports, with the entire flights shown on radar through the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, a statement said Sunday.
“The fee for each flight crossing Afghanistan’s airspace was $500 U.S. dollar before, but after the August, last year, it increased to 750 U.S. dollar, the Government Media and Information Centre (GMIC) said in a statement.
“Our revenues reach 6 billion Afs comparing to the past and the revenue will increase by several, in the coming years.”
Last week, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani launched the advanced airspace control system at the Hamid Karzai Airport, where he called an independent airspace system, one of the major goals of his government’ which is successfully achieved.’
Afghanistan based NATO and U.S. foreign forces handed over the responsibility of Afghanistan’s airspace control to the Afghan government in 2015, but due to the extension of practical and theoretical trainings by internal experts, the country’s airspace was controlled by the Afghans with the cooperation of foreign forces.
