Blood Collecting Program Commenced From Ashura Mourners

Kabul (BNA) Governor of central blood bank for ministry of public health says collecting program of blood was commenced yesterday in Kabul and all other provinces of the country.
Related to the program, Dr. Masoud Rahmani, Governor of central blood bank told BNA, “The bank has taken preparation for collecting one million cc bloods on the threshold of Ashura, adding mobile and fixed centers have been set up in various parts of Kabul city to collect blood voluntarily from Ashura mourners.”
Dr. Rahmani further said the fixed centers had been set up in Imam Hussain blood bank, madrasas of Mehdavia, Khatam-mun-Nabiyeen and Zahra and a center in Omid-e-Sabz town and besides these centers, blood could be collected from the volunteers in blood sections of seven hospitals in Kabul city.
He asserted granting blood was not harmful to health of people, saying the blood was collected for patients suffering from blood cancer and injured of traffic incidents.
The program is launched by MoPH amid declaration of Bamyan ulema council, asking Ashura mourners in the country to bestow blood instead of hitting themselves by chains and blood-shedding.
