Thursday, August 8, 2013
Kabul (BNA) The Afghan government strongly condemns the cowardly terrorist attack in Jalalabad aimed at the Indian consulate in the city this morning, which resulted in the death and injury of more than 20 innocent Afghan men, women and mostly children.
“We condemn this morning’s cowardly and heinous terrorist attack in Jalalabad against the consulate of the Republic of India in the strongest possible terms,” said Foreign Minister Dr. Zalmai Rassoul. “These terrorists achieved nothing except shedding the blood of innocent Afghan civilians who were going about their daily lives during this blessed month of Ramadan.”
“The godless terrorists who planned today’s attack and their financial, ideological and logistical sponsors must realize that they cannot shake the close and strong bond of friendship and partnership between Afghanistan and India through terrorism,” said Dr. Rassoul. “This cowardly act only reinforces the Afghan nation’s firm resolve to defeat the alien phenomenon of terrorism and extremism exported to Afghanistan from outside.”
“The Afghan government and people are grateful to the people and government of India for India’s steadfast friendship and generous contributions to Afghanistan’s security and reconstruction over the past decade,” added Dr. Rassoul. “We will continue to further deepen and broaden cooperation along the full spectrum of our relationship with the Republic of India in the years to come.”
