Kabul (BNA) Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan expressed deep sorrow over the death of 27 coal mine workers in Samangan province.
According to reports, on Saturday afternoon, due to falling down a part of a coal mine in Roy-e-Doab district of Samangan, 57 laborers working for the mine were trapped in mine, but 27 of the trapped lost their lives.
Upon hearing the tragic news, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was seriously saddened and expressed his condolence and sympathy to the martyrs’ families.
Hamid Karzai has instructed minister of mines and petroleum in order to he himself or one of his deputies visit the area for further investigation and adopt necessary measures to prevent from such incident in future.
The President also instructed minister of mines to urgently assist the martyrs and injured families and take steps for quick recovery of the injured.
