Religious Scholar Asked To Propagate Against Anti-Women Violence

Kabul (BNA) While the issue of violence against women has got these days, Minister of Women Affairs urged religious scholars to publicize against resorting violence against women.
Dr. Hussun Banu Ghazanfar Minister of Women Affairs addressing the research seminar “Violence against women under Islam” in Kabul said the religious ulama maintain the same role as the government as they are managing our social and religious and faith issues within the society and they retain immense influence on the people’s practices.
Under the present condition the minister emphasized, the only way that the Afghan women overcome the crisis in the name of violence, is the clear language of the religious ulama in the country.
She stressed that some of traditions do not have roots in the sacred Sharia but these unaccepted traditions indeed harms the minds and souls of the Muslim Afghan women and we can stand against it with the logic of Sharia.
Calling on the religious ulama, Ghazanfar added that we should not allow that the Afghan families especially those unaware of the interpretation of Islamic order and teachings resort to violence against women.
Mohammad Yusof Niazi Minister of Hajj and Endowment also spoke explaining the right of women from the Islamic viewpoints.
Meanwhile, some religious ulama also spoke with respect to women’s rights, underage marriages, and the huge expenses in marriages, women’s ownership rights and inheritance and morale importance of women in society.
Initiated by the Ministry of Women Affairs, the seminar was also attended by deputy minister of information and culture Nabi Farahi, some members of National Assembly and religious scholars as well as civil society activists.
The seminar ended with issuance of a resolution asking religious ulama to assist in ending violence against women.
