Poppy Lands Eradication Follows in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (BNA) A campaign for poppy field eradication has been launched recently in Helmand province, said officials.

Hundreds of acres of poppy fields in six districts of Helmand province destroyed so far by police and the cooperation of people, added to a statement on Saturday to Bakhtar News Agency.

The Campaign was formed following the recent decree of the Supreme Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan that prohibited poppy cultivation across the country.

Police reportedly eradicated hundreds of acres of poppy fields in Musa Qala, Naw zad, Washer, Babaji, Nad Ali, and Marjah districts.

The campaign to destroy poppy fields in Helmand is in full swing, they warned farmers that they would be dealt with legally if they grow poppy, said a police source to Bakhtar News Agency.

Meanwhile, Helmand police say that in addition to destroying poppy fields, they are trying to prevent deals of drugs in cities.
