Minister Jahani Praises Samar International Institute

Kabul (BNA) Minister of Information and Culture, Abdul Bari Jahani praised Samar International Institute for its efforts in redevelopment of the Afghan languages here yesterday, BNA reported.
The leading body of the Samar International Institute briefed the minister about its activities in Afghanistan and provides details about the Pashto and Dari languages’ translation into English, according to the agency. Director of the agency, David Shivor, also apprised the minister about the institute’s research on Pashtu and Dari languages and translated books from the said languages into English.  As example, the official said that a folklore book of “Millie Handara” written by Mohammad Gul Noori had been translated by American linguist David Path to English. The official also presented the outcome of Samar institute’s six years research to the minister and vowed to translate it into Dari and Pashtu in its earliest.
Minister Jahani, however, thanked the agency for its research on languages in Afghanistan and also assured his ministry’s support to the agency.
