President Ghani Attends Ashura Ceremony, Flays Terrorist Attack On Mourners

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani attended a ceremony held to commemorate the martyrdom of the great prophet’s grandson, Imam Hussain (PBUH), the BNA reported the other day.
The ceremony, which was held at the Nabi Akram Congregational Mosque in Kabul, the president, accompanied by ex-president Hamid Karzai, his vice-president, Sarwar Danish and Ustad Karim Khalili spoke at the meeting, calling the followers of religions, the unique example of coexistence at the regional level, the agency said.
As a great historical day and the sacred event of the divine, the Ashura, recalling the martyrdom of the great prophet’s grandchild, Imam Hussain, has got special importance in the history of Afghanistan, the president added.
Condemning in the strongest possible term, the bloodshed and deadly incident, carried out by the terrorists during the great religious and historical event, the president said the criminal terrorists once again resorted to the killing of the innocent mourners and once again sat the nation to another mourning of their dear ones, the agency quoted.
He said the enemy once again contaminated their hands to the blood of the mourners at one of the sacred places, indicating they are clearly against the unity and co-existence of the followers of different tribes in the country.
The president once again attacking the criminal activity of the terrorists, said the overnight terrorist attack at the Sakhi Shrine, once again unveiled the anti-Islamic feature of the terrorists and highlighted their real feature, according to the agency.
The president asked the entire people of Afghanistan, particularly the Sunny and Shiite scholars, political experts and others to perform their mission in protecting their people unity, the agency said quoting the president as emphasizing on good governance, institutionalizing social justice and equal development in the country, a move taken from the political vision of Imam Hussain (PBUH).
Sarwar Danesh, second vice-president spoke at the ceremony, condoling the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his followers and persisting on the unity and coexistence of the Afghan nation. He went on as reminding the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan, and praising the government of national unity’s great success at the landmark gathering, said ensuing program convoying good governance, balanced development, fighting corruption are expected to be implemented by the government.
Senior deputy of the high peace council, Mohammad Karim Khalili said there is no distance between Shia and Sunni and that Ashura related to the entire people of Afghanistan, the agency further added.
Khalili praised the effort of the country’s security forces to tighten firm security of the ceremony and said he was proud of the Afghan security forces to defend the country with their blood. He also welcomed the government effort for expanding the peace process, to which the Hezb-e-Islami leader, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar joined recently and said they were precisely following the peace process, as peace is the dire need of the Afghans.
According to another report by Bakhtar News Agency, President Ghani enquired the health condition of the Sakhi Shrine victims in hospital and instructed the related organs for providing enough cooperation with them.
CE, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah also, in a message condemned the terrorist activity that resulted in the killing of many Ashura mourners and injuring of many others and said the enemies of the country can’t tolerate the great achievements of the people of Afghanistan in term of national unity and other spheres of the international interests, so they are sparing no effort to create obstacles before the government and the people of Afghanistan.
