Freedom of Expression Would Be Never Dealt: CE

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive Office in a statement has congratulated International Press Freedom Day to all media of the country, asserting expression freedom would never be dealt with nothing.
“Third of May is the International Press Freedom Day. After the Taliban regime and formation of democratic system in the country, the role of media has been considerable and valuable in exercising of democracy, speech freedom, making nation-governance, counter corruption, creating transparency accountability and enlightening of the public minds”, the statement said.
The statement asserted that democratic and free media were the biggest and most significant achievements of the people of Afghanistan in the past 16 years and protection of these achievements supporting and strengthening of them were key tasks and responsibilities of the national unity government.
“During the past 16 years, journalists and correspondents have been standing beside the legal system and security forces of the country despite of security threats and lots of obstacles and challenges. In the mentioned period, Afghanistan media has suffered heavy losses and sacrifices towards expansion of speech freedom and giving information to the people”, the statement asserted, adding that the national unity government has taken key steps towards supporting independent and free media and press in the country.
