President Ghani Confers State Medals on Finnish FM, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade

Kabul (BNA) The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on Tuesday during a ceremony conferred high state medals of Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan and Mir Masjidi Khan on Finish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and the country’s Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Ville Skinnari, a presidential palace statement said.

At the ceremony, which took place at the presidential palace, Fatemeh Morchal, Presidential deputy spokeswoman, first read President Ghani’s decrees in this regard, according to the statement.

President Ghani praised the efforts of the Finnish authorities in developing friendly relations between the two countries, Finland’s commitments at the Geneva Conference and its cooperation in the economic, social and development fields with Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the Finnish officials thanked the President through a video conference for awarding the medals and said that Finland supports a united, independent and democratic Afghanistan, as well as the provision of a just and lasting peace in the country.
