BAZAARK (BNA) Panjshir mobile medical team have been traveled to the southeast on Wednesday to assist victims of the recent vast earthquake in Khost and Paktika provinces.
The head of Panjshir red crescent society told BNA that a medical mobile team of the province had traveled to the south to assist their countrymen.
They decided to travel to the southeast after the death toll increased and the number of injured surged hourly in Khost and Paktika provinces, said officials.
On Tuesday night a magnitude 6.1 hit Khost which is said to be the epicenter of the earthquake and Paktika, which killed more than 1,000 people and injured many as 1500 destroyed hundreds of houses, and left severe financial losses to the poor local residents in these provinces.
A similar magnitude of 6.1 earthquake in 2002 killed about 1,000 people in northern Afghanistan. And in 1998, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake and subsequent tremors in Afghanistan’s remote northeast killed at least 4,500 people.
