UNAMA Expresses Concern on Civilians Casualties  in Kandahar

United Nation Assistant Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) deeply concerned by escalating violence in and around eastern Kandahar province amidst ongoing Taliban attacks on city.

According to BNA report, UNAMA by releasing a statement said, more than 230 civilians injured since 16 July, the numbers likely much higher. Credible reports of scores of civilians killed, working to establish facts on civilian harm, the statement added.

In the statement called on parties to exercise maximum restraint and take all possible measures to protect civilians from further harm.

Also, the Mission warns of the grave consequences to civilians in Kandahar if the fighting continues and intensifies in urban areas of the city.
