House of People Emphasizes on Illegality of Simultaneous Provincial, Presidential Elections

Kabul (BNA) The House of people in its yesterday’s session called simultaneous elections of presidential and provincial councils in 1393 as illegal and discussed some of the important issues.
Chaired by Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi chairman of the House of People, some of the deputies welcomed the deadline set for the presidential elections in the month of Hamal of 1393, emphasized that holding of the provincial councils elections simultaneous with the presidential election will bring about one year delay in the week of the provincial councils and this is of course against the provision of the Constitution of the country.
On the basis of the deputies’ assertions the work of the provincial councils on the basis of Constitution is four years and if the election of these councils is held in 1393 the new councils will have to start work one year later.
They also reiterated on the distribution of the electronic identity cards and adoption of the election law and asked for explanation from the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in this respect.
They also expressed concern over climatic condition in the cold regions of the country and stressed that in the date line specified for election, roads will be closed and the weather will not be suitable for holding the election and this will deprive some of our people to vote for their candidates.
The House of People also condemned the painful suicide attack in Faryab and the killings on Ghazni road and asked the security organs to adopt measures for ensuring security of the people.
They said that the in charges in Faryab have failed to ensure better security in the province after the visit of the president of the country.
Some of the deputies complained over shortage of medicine and nurses at the 200-bed of police and asked the minister of interior affairs that instead of displaying of symbolic publicity pictures try to focus attention towards the pity condition at the police hospital and better treatment of the wounded police personnel.
The meeting also condemned the killing of a former opposition commander having joined the government and asked the security organs to follow up this issue.
Some deputies raised the issue of Afghan refugees living in Tajikistan and said that the Tajikistan government is forcing the Afghans having Afghan nationality to obtain visa in order to return to Afghanistan.
They asked the ministry of foreign affairs to take up this issue with the Tajikistan government through diplomatic channels and try to resolve the problems of the Afghans.
They also asked for talks with the Pakistani government to avoid mass deportation of the Afghans this coming December considering the improper weather in Afghanistan.
