Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai congratulated Pranab Mukherjee via a phone call yesterday on his victory as the new Indian President in the 2012 elections.
In the telephone conversation, on behalf of the Government and people of Afghanistan, President Karzai wished Mukherjee further success in his tenure at the highest office of India.
The President hoped that Indo-Afghan relations would broaden and strengthen further under Pranab Mukherjee’s leadership.
Indian President then thanked President Karzai for his phone call.
On Sunday July 22, Pranab Mukherjee has been declared the winner with 69.31 per cent votes in the Presidential elections.
As planned, Mukherjee will be sworn in on Wednesday, July 25 as the 13th President of India in a swearing-in ceremony.
