President Karzai Backs Home From Islamabad Summit

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai returned home yesterday afternoon from a three-day official visit to the Islamabad, where he attended a trilateral summit on regional challenges, an official said. 
Accompanied by senior officials, President Karzai met his Pakistani and Iranian counterparts on combating the twin scourge of terrorism and drugs, his spokesman said. 
Aimal Faizai said president Karzai had held fruitful talks on bilateral cooperation with Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Iranian President Mohamud Ahmadiajhad. 
During the visit, president Karzai also met Pakistani political figures Aftab Sherpao, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Hajji Adeel, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Afrasiab Khatak and Zahid Khan. 
Reconciliation talks with the Taliban, ending the decade-long war in Afghanistan and increased regional cooperation in diverse fields figured prominently at meetings.
