President Ghani Speaks with His Turkman Counterpart Via Phone

Kabul (BNA) President Ashraf Ghani and Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in a phone conversation discussed a range of issues pertaining to strengthening bilateral relations, mutual cooperation, and regional projects, on Saturday.

According to BNA report, President Berdimuhamedov extended congratulations to President Ashraf Ghani on a successful 2020 Afghanistan Conference and reiterated his country’s commitment to cooperate with Afghanistan.

The two sides also talked over the progresses made in the regional projects such as TAPI and TAP as well as extension of fiber optics network and agreed on trilateral and quadrilateral mechanisms to ensure implementation of these projects.

The Afghan and Turkmen presidents discussed transmission of power from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan and agreed that Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat would enter into negotiations with the Turkmen side to finalize the details allowing the process to move forward.

President Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan has funded the construction of a mosque in Aqeena that will be inaugurated in the coming days.

President Ashraf Ghani said that Minister of Haj and Religious Affairs will represent Afghanistan in the inauguration ceremony.
