Indian LPU Awards Honorary Doctorate To President Karzai

Kabul (BNA) At the ceremony held to this end, at the University campus in Jalandar city of Punjab State of India was attended by Parnab Mukerji Indian president, Chief Minister and Governor of Punjab, teachers and students of the University.
First, the Rector of the LPU University welcoming president Karzai and the Indian president on the third graduation ceremony of university said it is a matter of pleasure for him that he has president Karzai with him who has come from our friendly country Afghanistan and accepts the honorary doctorate document.
The honorary doctorate was presented to president Karzai by the Indian president to appreciate his services and his endeavors for development of Afghanistan especially in education, infrastructures, health, economy and international relations sectors.
Afterward, the governor of Punjab state while congratulating president Karzai said that president Karzai is the great friend of India and his presence will always be remembered by the university and the people of Punjab.  Addressing the ceremony president Karzai said that he is pleased that the LPU with its high academic capabilities and having more than 30,000 students from various countries honors him with honorary doctorate.
He added that I had a meeting with Patel rector of LPU University about the requirements of Afghanistan towards education and especially higher education.
He told me the university will accept all the students that the government of Afghanistan wishes to send them with its own budget.
He added that India as the friend of people of Afghanistan has provided great aids in the area of higher education of Afghan youths and annually offer 2000 scholarship to the Afghan youths and you are witness to the presence of Afghan students in all Indian universities.  He stressed that India not only assisted in training of our youth, but it has assisted Afghanistan with over USD2 billion in different spheres and representing the Afghan nation I thank India for its valuable and great it’s to our people.
Addressing the student’s president Karzai noted that you are representing a country with great civilization which is rapidly progressing in technology, industry, economy sectors. 
He asked the students that what they learn at the university not only use in India but put them service of other needy nations.
It should be noted that the LPU is one of the largest private university in India located in Punjab State of India and presently it has 30,000 students from 28 Indian states and 26 world countries.
The third graduation festival of the university was marked by presence of President of Afghanistan and India, during which about 7775 students received graduation diplomas of BA and Masters Degrees and 19 of them for their outstanding position also received gold medals.
