March 5, 2012 – President Hamid Karzai telephoned Vladimir Putin this afternoon to congratulate him on behalf of the people of Afghanistan and himself on his election as the President of Russian Federation.
The Central Election Commission of the Russia announced on Monday the preliminary results of the presidential elections, according to which Putin scored a convincing win with close to 64 percent of the vote.
In the conversation, the two Presidents spoke on the need for further enhancement of the bilateral relations between the two countries and that the two Presidents could meet in the near future.
