President Karzai Chairs NSC Meeting

Kabul (BNA) With President Hamid Karzai on the chair, the National Security Council (NSC) held meeting yesterday.
According to presidential press office to BNA, in the meeting, ministers for defense and interior as well as acting chief of national directorate for security briefed the participants about the security situation of the country after holding the presidential runoff.
Defense minister in his remarks expressed concern over the incursion of Pakistani military personnel in civilian clothes in Kunar province, adding over the past few years they have used heavy weapons in the province. Strongly condemning the attack on Kunar province, the NSC has assigned the national security forces of the country to foil such attacks in full harmony and coordination.
The issue of providing better security to the presidential candidates and the election commissions were also discussed in the meeting and all the three security organs were tasked to take necessary measures for the security of the candidates. During the proceeding, the minister for refugees and repatriates presented his report about the arriving of refugees from across the Durand Line in Khost province and said that hundreds of families had been displaced in the wake of launching military operations by Pakistani army in North Waziristan and most of the displaced people had come to the southern provinces.
Minister for refugees also said that the government and UN agencies had provided humanitarian assistance to the refugees and more aid will be provided to the displaced people after registration of their names and numbers.
Speaking at the meeting the governor of Khost province said that more than 3000 families have come to Khost from Waziristan tribal area, calling on the concerned bodies to provide medicines and basic needs to them.
At the end of the meeting, the NSC tasked minister for interior to investigate into the case of clash between the guards of Paktia governor and police personnel on Kabul-Mazar highway and present the report in the next meeting of NSC.
