16 Corruption Cases Investigated

Kabul (BNA) The High Council for Rule of Law, with President Ghani on the chair said the officials of the justice and judicial center has started work on 16 cases of corruption related to different organs of the government, the BNA said the other day.
According to the agency, the meeting which was attended by Second Vice President, Sarwar Danesh, chief justice, attorney general, minister of justice, Human Rights Commission Chairwoman and some other related officials, as well as representatives from the UN and the European Union and British Ambassador, the official of the justice and judiciary center presented their works to the president, the agency said.
Some 16 cases have so far been researched and reached to the investigation level, said the agency, pointing to a general of the Ministry of Interior, who was accused of bribery that his case was independently under investigation.
The agency quoted the Justice and Judiciary Center official for vowing to independently investigate into the corrupt cases and assured that they would work to help the country get rid of the vicious phenomenon.
Fighting corruption issues of five ministries have also been discussed at the meeting, with the president saying success of the ministries was in their effort to increase revenues, according to the agency.
The high council for rule of law asked the international community to help the government return the corrupt individuals from other countries, said the agency adding the justice and judiciary centre should hold weekly meeting and the high council for rule of law to regularly meet each month.
