Kabul (BNA) The Ministry of Information and Culture has announced that it would step up in restoration of 11 historical monuments during the current fiscal year, BNA reported the other day.
Addressing a meeting of the government accountability to the nation, the Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Hasina Safi said that her ministry has spent up to 91 percent of its development budget during the last fiscal year, according to the agency.
The minister added that work has been provided for more than 700 people, as the ministry started excavations in eight provinces of the country.
“Rehabilitation of the High Art Council, inserting the national journalist day at the country’s calendar, introducing over 4,000 youth with special discount to the private universities, creation of work procedure for resolving the problems of women employees of the Ministry are from the achievements of the ministry of information and culture in the past year,” the agency quoted the minister as saying.
The minister, according to the agency, went on as numerating the last year’s achievements of the ministry in the cultural area to include excavation of Mis-e-Ainak, deification of hundreds of transferable and nontransferable works including the Mis-e-Ainak excavation, restoration of ancient sites and placing up to 198 historical relics at the National Museum.
The acting minister also said her ministry had also achievements in other fields such as finalization of visual media digitalization, bringing amendment at the mass media law, publishing tens of books and holding several meetings with the media outlets in the past year.
Specification of tourism policy, development of tourism, provision of tourism draft policy and assessment of three tourism indexes are from the ministries last year achievements, the agency continued.
For the current year, the minister said her ministry had seven main-targets and 27 sub-targets to be implemented, the agency added.
“Completion of semi-completed projects supervision of development projects, rehabilitation of Kabul Nandaray, starting work on three historical monuments, continuation of excavation on ten sites, holding exhibitions and launching training workshops for journalists have also been the ministry’s achievements,” said the minister.
Meantime, the deputy minister of information and culture on finance, administrative and tourism., Sayeda Mojgan Mostafavi, also spoke at the meeting calling membership of the ministry of information an culture to seven human conventions, another achievement of the ministry in 2018 and added that efforts being made to increase women portion at the ministry of information and culture. About the people concern over the recent decision of the ministry of telecommunication to filter Facebook, the deputy to the Ministry of Information and Culture, on Publication Affairs Fazel Sancharaki said the main aim of the ministry was not to shut Facebook, but provide a good management of this social media.
