President Karzai Meets Indian Ex-PM Manmohan Singh

Kabul (BNA) Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met yesterday afternoon with Indian former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh prior to oath ceremony of the country’s new Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  According to presidential press office to BNA,
in the meeting, President Hamid Karzai briefed related to recent terrorist attack on the Indian consulate in Herat.
President Karzai also spoke related to successful holding presidential and provincial councils’ elections and preparations for holding the second round of the elections.
President Karzai said he would hand over power to Afghanistan new elected president within two months like the Indian Prime Minister.
Hamid Karzai asserted as relations between the two countries were historic, Afghanistan future government would also extend and strengthen its relations with India.
In return, Monmohan Singh praised Afghan security forces for their bravery and on time step taken in repulsing terrorist attack on the Indian consulate in Herat.
He addressed to President Karzai and said your biggest service as president to the people of Afghanistan is the maintenance of national unity in your country and you have taken particular position in Afghanistan history.
The Indian former Prime Minister praised President Karzai for his efforts and regional cooperation.
Manmohan Singh said Afghanistan and India have historic and cultural relations which would remain strengthened in future.
In the meeting, President Karzai invited Manmohan Singh to pay visit to Afghanistan, which was accepted by Singh and asserted he would pay visit to Afghanistan in a suitable opportunity.
