President Karzai Meets Kazakhstan-Based Afghan Students

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai met with the Afghan student studying in different universities of Kazakhstan at the presidential palace yesterday. According to presidential press office to BNA,  in the meeting also attended by minister of higher education Dr. Obaidullah Obaid and presidential advisor on national security Dr. Rangeen Dadfar Spanta, first a student Besmilah Taban in his speech on behalf of others thanked the president for sending students abroad for higher education, saying since 2010 around 1,000 Afghan students have been studying in different universities of Kazakhstan.
He also called for completion of the course for medical students in Kazakhstan and solution of the problems for payment of the stipend of students and taking into account the issue of gender in giving scholarship.
Speaking at the meeting, the minister for higher education Dr. Obaid said that 6,000 students had been sent for higher education outside the country.
He also urged the ministry for public health to pave the way for medical students to conduct practical course in hospitals within the country.
Speaking to students, President Karzai said that he feels happy today that Afghan students are studying abroad which raised the ray of hopes for better future of Afghanistan.
The president also instructed the ministry for higher education and the ministry for foreign affairs to keep in mind the problems of students in Kazakhstan and present their proposals in the next meeting of the cabinet.
At the end of the meeting, the students presented appreciation letter and gifts to president in recognition of his services.
