Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai has praised Ziaul Haq Amarkhil Independent Election Commission Secretariat Chief for deciding to quite the office, a statement released by Presidential Palace on Tuesday said.
In the statement, the president described Amarkhil’s decision to resign as proper; saying with his resignation the continuation of normal process of the election has been smoothed.
The people of Afghanistan had casted votes amid security threats to elect their new president, the statement said in the statement.
Therefore, the election process with the framework of the law should be continued by the election commissions with transparency so as to pave the way for the oath-taking ceremony of new president slated for August 2 this year.
