Washington Hopes To Ink BSA With Afghanistan Soon

Tuesday, September 23, 2014
Kabul (BNA) The US government is hopeful to ink the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with Afghanistan in its earliest.
The hope for early inking BSA has been made in the wake of agreement between the two candidates for formation of national unity government and bringing end to the political deadlock. The US Secretary of State John Kerry in his remarks said that the agreement reached on Sunday paves the way for progress in Afghanistan.
Inking BSA would allow Washington to keep limited number of troops in Afghanistan post 2014 pullout of the NATO-led forces from the country. Both Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and Dr. Abdullah had said to ink the BSA agreement.
Under the agreement reached Sunday, Dr. Ahmadzai to be president and Abdullah to be chief executive in the national unity government.
