Kabul (BNA) Acting minister of information and culture Hasina Safi in a seminar titled ‘Cultural Condition of Afghan Women in Past 100 Years’ said efforts would be made towards addressing shortcomings and obstacles facing Afghan women in various sectors particularly in cultural field in the past 100 years.
In the seminar held yesterday with participation of deputy ministers and officials of the ministry of information and culture, representatives of various government institutions, civil society organizations, academic and cultural figures and foreign guests, acting minister of information and culture said the seminar was aimed to review cultural condition of Afghan women in the period of past 100 years, adding cultural activities of Afghan women in fine arts, theater, music, journalism, film, literature, sports, tourism and social affairs have been reviewed.
Briefing related to cultural programs launched on the occasion of marking the 100the anniversary of Afghanistan Independence Day since the beginning of the year, acting minister of information and culture said that it was the responsibility of the MoIC to make effort and work for the protection and expansion of the people’s culture and tradition showing the country’s identity.
Hasina Safi added that Afghan women were able to lead, plan and implement programs in various fields.
Afterwards, the country’s First Lady in a video message released in connection with the seminar praised Afghan women for their cultural activities and achievements in the course of past history in particular the past 100 years.
“Afghan women have suffered numerous pains and lost their loved ones during the past continued war in the country and lasting peace is one of Afghan women’s key need,” said the country’s First Lady.
The country’s First Lady stressed that women were the messengers of peace and wanted to end the culture of war and violence in the country and were asking for peace, solidarity and patriotisms.
In the seminar, the book titled ‘Pioneers of Culture’, which was published by the MoIC, was unveiled by acting minister of information and culture. In the book, top Afghan women from 34 provinces of the country have been introduced.
Meanwhile, a 17 –cause resolution was read out in the seminar in which the government was asked to support Afghan women and provide better facilities for women in the country.
