Ulema’s Support To ANSF Vital: President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has described the support of Ulema to the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) as vital, the President Press Office said in a statement.
The president made the remarks in meeting with a delegation of Ulama Council of Afghanistan led by head of the religious body, Mawlawi Qeyamuddin Keshaf here in Arg yesterday, the statement further said.
“Religious scholars can promote peace, prevent militancy and strengthen brotherhood among the people of the country”, the president noted, the statement added.
Meantime, the council of religious scholars in a resolution readout by Mawlawi Zabihullah Haqjo, once again announced Ulama’s support to the ANSF, calling upon the whole nation to work for peace by standing alongside the country’s security forces, the statement continued.
In the resolution, the Ulama expressed their support to the ongoing peace process and stressed that all opposition groups should be invited in the peace talks.
Ulama in the resolution also called upon the United States of America, one of the members of the four-way talks, to do its best in restoring lasting peace in Afghanistan.
The resolution also urged the armed militants to renounce violence and killing innocent people and help make succeed the peace talks.
Meantime, President Ghani noted that in line with the suggestion of the religious scholars, the government without precondition has invited all armed opposition groups to negotiation table. The president also promised to renovate and repair five Masjids in five provinces of the country in the coming year.
According to another report, Chief Executive, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in a meeting with the delegation of Ulama Council of Afghanistan led by Mawlawi Qeyamuddin Keshaf here the other day, categorically stated that the government won’t overlook the suggestions and proposals of the religious scholars. The chief executive also noted that religious scholars have the membership of the High Peace Council to help succeed the peace efforts in the country.
