Mujahid Declares Afghanistan Free From Corruption

KABUL (BNA): Mawlavi Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has declared Afghanistan as a corruption-free country.

Following Afghanistan’s 162nd rank in the latest Transparency International global transparency index, Mujahid expressed on his social media handle that being at the 162nd position is commendable.

He clarified that the drop by four places compared to last year’s index does not necessarily indicate an increase in corruption, but could be due to other countries improving their transparency.

In 2023, Transparency International assessed and ranked the administrative transparency of 180 countries worldwide. Afghanistan, with a score of 20 out of 100, shares the 162nd position with several other countries.

It’s noteworthy that Afghanistan scored 24 points and ranked 150th in 2022, and with 16 points, it held the 174th position in 2021.
