Kabul (BNA) The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Zalmai Rasoul met with UN Deputy Secretary General Mr. Jan Eliasson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday.
The two sides discussed the issues of mutual interest including the full transfer of security responsibilities to Afghan National Security Forces, holding Presidential Elections, the peace process and talks with the oppositions, the relations of Afghanistan with its neighboring countries, the region and the world as well as the role of United Nation in relation to Afghanistan’s matters. Dr. Rassoul expressed his appreciation for the cooperation, assistance and support the United Nations has provided to the people of Afghanistan and hoped that presidential elections will expedite the political transition process and will also pave the way for the development and progress of the country.
