Railway Transportation Hike Increase Last Month

KABUL (BNA) A rough amount of 427,595 tons of commodities have been traded via the country’s railways in the past month, the Afghanistan Railway Authority (ARA) Saturday.

“Around 346,862 metric tons of exports and imports have been made via Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif railway, 23,635 metric tons of commodities have been made via Aqina railway and the rest has been made via Torghundi and Khawaf railways,” the ARA said in a statement.

The imported commodities include over 424,525 metric tons of oil and foodstuffs that have been imported into the country in the past month, the statement further said.

Also, the exported commodities over 3,070 metric tons which mostly include dried fruit and pomegranate juice, have been exported to the outside of the country in the past month, the statement added.

Meanwhile, over 489,798 metric tons had been traded via the country’s railways in the first month of the current fiscal year.

The Afghanistan Railway Authority is making efforts to provide traders with the necessary facilities and address their challenges, said the department in its statement.
