Asian Countries Counter-Extremism Conference Held In Bangladesh

Kabul (BNA) The International Conference of the Asian Countries Senior Security Officials has been held in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh.
The conference was attended by delegates from countries including, Australia, Bhutan, China, Indonesia, Japan, Maldives, Malaysia, Mummer, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, India as well as FBI police, Facebook and Google in the secular, Muslim majority country. In the ceremony, condemning terrorist attack on the military hospital in the Afghan capital Kabul, the participant countries senior officials expressed their concern over the outspread of terrorist activities in the country, and the Interpol general secretary, Jorge Shtook called the brutal attack as the greatest regional terrorist crimes. He extended his condolence to the Afghans and voiced continuation of unsparing cooperation to the Afghan security forces, particularly the police. The two-day conference discussed key security issues on how to launch campaign against terrorism and ultra-border crime.
Attended in the conference, senior deputy to the country’s interior ministry, Abdul Rahman Rahman called the role of the international police in restoring security of the region and emphasized on the international police serious campaign in preventing human trafficking. The deputy minister pointed out to the threats from terrorism, drugs and human trafficking facing Afghanistan and regional countries and said his country has been the main victim of terrorism and right now, the country’s security forces are engaged in war on terrorism and the world and regional countries should continue cooperating with the Afghan security forces in this field. The Interpol secretary General also pledged cooperation with the Afghan security forces in war on terror and said the Interpol was ready to provide full cooperation with Afghanistan in all fields, particularly in war on extremism and insurgency and would support the Afghan position in the internal conventions.
An Afghan lawmaker Hashemi said the international community, particularly the Interpol should provide full cooperation with the Afghan forces to overcome extremism and terrorism as well as against all forms of trafficking. He said Afghanistan has experienced widespread violence in the past and still is the victim of terrorism and extremism, so the regional and world countries should cooperate with the Afghan forces to fight the heinous elements. However he doubted on such conference to could be remain effective as he believed in the past many such gathering has met but nothing tangible had so far been seen in war on extremism and terror, but expressed hope the ultra-border meeting on counterterrorism efforts could lay positive impact and could help the regional countries to overcome terrorism all over the region. A military expert Khalilullah Amarkhil also spoke in this field and called terrorism a common threat and should be jointly fought against. He said if the world remains incompetent about the Daesh activities, it may spread activities all over the region like Taliban and Al-Qaeda. They should provide full cooperation with the Afghan security forces if they want terrorism uprooted in the region.
